Wilkerson Associates Architects Architects for the Healthcare Profession Charlotte, North Carolina 28202 704.334.7571 Featured Projects Conway Medical Center has asked Wilkerson Associates Architects to prepare a Master Plan for their facility and address several areas of concern. The hospital requested an evaluation of all service lines in relation to the rapidly increasing demographics in the area. The Master Plan approach utilized is one of Capacity Analysis dovetailed with Facility Planning. The new Administrative Services Building is located across an internal drive from the Hospital. It is a 3-story structure that houses a new Board Room, Accounting, Administration, Marketing, and Foundation Departmental offices, as well as a large Classroom and a Multipurpose Auditorium capable of seating 100. This project consists of new construction of 21,400 square feet plus interior renovations to the Moses Cone Regional Cancer Center located on the campus of Wesley Long Memorial Hospital. The existing building is a three-story structure connected to Wesley Long via an enclosed corridor between the respective main lobby areas. The Surgical Services Relocation for Northern Hospital of Surry County presented unique design challenges given the hilly terrain of the hospital campus. New construction will be on the same elevation as the Main Level of the hospital and house four Operating Rooms, Pre-Admission, Testing, PACU, Sterile Processing, Endoscopy, and OR Staff Lockers and Lounge area. Wilkerson Associates was asked to develop a free-standing Outpatient Diagnostics Facility as well as a Master Facility Plan for Sampson Regional Medical Center. The new Women's Life Center at Cleveland Regional Medical Center is another "Center of Excellence" developed by their Strategic Plan. The new facility is a two-story structure adjacent to the front entrance of the Hospital. Another project by Wilkerson Associates Architects, Architects for the Healthcare Profession, Charlotte, NC. Cleveland Regional Medical Center commissioned Wilkerson Associates to develop their Facility Master Plan. The plan indicated developing various "Centers of Excellence". Oncology Services is one such area that was addressed. The Medical Oncology Department was relocated to the front of the campus in the Grover Building for accessibility and given a new inviting reception / waiting area. The Radiation Oncology service was relocated from the Radiology Department to the Grover Building placing it adjacent to the new Medical Oncology Services. This fulfilled the Hospital's strategic plan to provide oncology services in a comprehensive Cancer Center. The main treatment area for outpatient chemotherapy with relaxing recliners, private treatment rooms, and exam rooms with centrally located nurses' station provide the patients and the patients' families with a comforting environment for treatment. New construction at the Radiation Oncology services includes the Linear Accelerator vault, mechanical room, and some control space for the vault. Renovation includes the Simulator with control, Dosimetry space, work/reading space, tumor registry, physician office space, conference space, three exam rooms, nurse station and various support spaces. Another project by Wilkerson Associates Architects, Architects for the Healthcare Profession, Charlotte, NC. Wilkerson Associates utilized a strategy-based process, which incorporated statistical data and analysis to "right size" the new Emergency Department into an operationally functional design. This is to allow for increasing volumes and provide additional privacy and confidentiality to patients as well as improve the organization, flow and through-put of patients. The expanded department will include a new ambulance entrance, 24 exam rooms with 2 large dedicated trauma rooms, 4 additional trauma bays, 6 universal rooms, 12 exam rooms, and a large central nurse station with visualization of the exam room. The new ambulance entrance can accommodate 6 emergency vehicles. The existing Emergency Department will be renovated to include a new fast track unit with 10 fast track rooms, nurse station, waiting areas, administration, and 3 new triage rooms. Another project by Wilkerson Associates Architects, Architects for the Healthcare Profession, Charlotte, NC. Cleveland Regional Medical Center is in the process of expanding their Outpatient Center. The design consolidated critical departmental relationships in a cost efficient solution by building above the new Emergency Department. A new post anesthesia care unit will be constructed in conjunction with this Outpatient Center. Another project by Wilkerson Associates Architects, Architects for the Healthcare Profession, Charlotte, NC. The Hospital has asked Wilkerson Associates to assist them in implementing their Master Plan. The plan is to focus on Surgery, Outpatient Surgery, Emergency Dept. and Radiology with many other areas being affected also. Another project by Wilkerson Associates Architects, Architects for the Healthcare Profession, Charlotte, NC. Morehead Memorial Hospital asked Wilkerson Associates Architects to revisit their Facility Master Plan and continue to update and refine the goals that had been put in place. One of the areas identified for additions and renovations was the Emergency Department. The new Emergency Department replaces the existing department, which allowed ease of construction phasing and kept the existing ED operational during construction. Northern Hospital of Surry County commissioned Wilkerson Associates Architects to implement part of its Master Plan. The new addition provides space for a new entrance lobby, admitting and storage space below. Renovations include Medical Oncology, existing surgery support areas, medical records, gift shop, conference space, bone density and stress testing. Another project by Wilkerson Associates Architects, Architects for the Healthcare Profession, Charlotte, NC. The CaroMont Specialty Surgery located on the campus of Gaston Memorial Hospital was expanded to include 26 new pre/post Operative Rooms and a central nurse station with a skylight bathing the area with natural light. The renovated areas include waiting, relocated PACU, vending and administration support spaces.
