Conway Medical Center has asked
Wilkerson Associates Architects to prepare a Master Plan for their
facility and address several areas of concern. The hospital requested
an evaluation of all service lines in relation to the rapidly increasing
demographics in the area. The Master Plan approach utilized is one
of Capacity Analysis dovetailed with Facility Planning.
One important result of this Master
Plan is a 3-story Bed Wing featuring 64 large,
all private patient rooms to create quality patient
care spaces for the staff while providing dedicated
spaces for families and visitors in patient rooms and
public areas. The nursing units will minimize travel distances
from nursing stations to patients and supplies, maintain critical
sight lines for the nursing staff, and maximize patient safety
through innovative design solutions. The patient rooms are
modular and can easily be retrofitted in the future should
patient mix change. The overall floor plan is divided into
groups of 8-bed nursing pods surrounding a central core of support areas.
Another aspect of the Master Plan,
a 3-story Administration Annex, will be
located across an internal drive on the
campus. It will be connected to the new
Bed Wing via a covered breezeway.
