Gaston Memorial Hospital
Ambulatory Surgery Center
Gastonia, North Carolina

One of 6 Operating Rooms
The Gaston Ambulatory Surgery Center is designed for direct patient and family access and is conveniently connected to the hospital by an enclosed walkway.

The project includes 18 private pre-operative/post-operative cubicles, 6 spacious operating rooms, a 9-bay Phase I Recovery room, pediatric cubicles and appropriate support spaces.

We created a warm, relaxing atmosphere in the waiting and reception area by using soft curved forms, rich wood accents, indirect lighting, and a palette of deep natural hues.

The pediatrics service provides a warm, cheerful environment for parents and children with bright colors, graffiti pattern on the floor, bright cubicle curtains, and animals and numbers on the walls and ceiling.

A high level of staff participation during planning and design was critical to this project's success.
